Santa in the City is London's iconic 5k Santa Run. Back again in 2018 this year's santa run event will be on Thursday 6th December 2018. The festive santa dash run itself starts at 7pm and this Santa Run is the only event where you'll run past some of the most iconic locations in the world, dressed as a santa!
Run for fun or run for charity! This santa dash is the perfect way to get you, your friends and family into the London festive spirit!
Registration for the santa run is now open - click here to get your individual or group place. Each place costs £23 + booking fee (from £2.35/place), for which you will get your very own Santa Suit, individual running number and medal (T&C’s apply). If you wish to run for the Lord Mayor's Appeal, our Lead charity, please click here (or the button on the right had side below) and you will be transferred to their website for registration directly with them.
The santa run starts on the north side of the Millennium Bridge and you will begin by running over the Thames and enjoying the world famous view of Tower Bridge. The santa dash route then takes you along the historic south embankment, past Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and some of London's oldest pubs, and the Borough Market area. You will cross over Southwark Bridge and hug the north embankment running towards the Tower of London. You will return through the City, back over Southwark Bridge and turn right towards St Paul's Cathedral, over Millennium Bridge to the finish line of this truly iconic route!
No previous experience is needed for a 5k like this santa dash. The route is relatively flat and you can run, jog or walk. This santa run is a great way to get you into the festive spirit. Once you have signed up and paid for your place you will receive a santa run confirmation email. If you do not, please do get in touch. Please bring the santa run confirmation email to the Santa run check-in desk located in Paternoster Square. The santa run check-in desk will be open from 3pm and will be situated to the right of the Starbucks. When you check-in you will be given your Santa Suit and running number. Santa Suits are all one-size, but adjustable to fit all. At 6.45pm there will be the traditional Santa Parade from Paternoster Square to the start line, the Northbank of the Millennium Bridge.
Santa in the City runners have made a huge impact over the last four years by supporting many different charities and community across London, the UK and rest of the world. Their commitment is second to none and we want to highlight some of he people who have been this santa run’s closest friends.
“Carole Spivey was a secretary at the City law firm, Slaughter and May, for over thirty years. She was a keen runner in her youth and supported a number of charities with her husband, especially at Christmas time. She was delighted to be involved in organising the participation in Santa in the City of a team from Slaughter and May in 2017 to raise funds for the firm’s charity that year, Dementia UK.
Carole threw herself into the santa dash event and wore her Santa suit with pride! She coordinated the entries from the Slaughter and May team and was in close contact with the event’s organisers. She was delighted to be involved and it was her idea that the team participate to raise money for charity.
Just three months after the santa run, Carole was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away six weeks later. It was a shock to her family, friends and colleagues as she was someone with so much energy. She is missed by everyone, most of all by her husband and the rest of her family. Her family, friends and colleagues are taking part in Santa in the City this year in her memory and are raising funds for a charity she supported, the St Martin’s in the Fields Christmas Appeal. Carole would have loved to take part in Santa in the City again and the team hopes it can do justice to the memory of a very special lady. What are the registration options? There are two options - register an Individual or register a Group.
What is the minimum size for a Group or Team? The minimum size for a Group is two people. The maximum size is 100. For larger groups place email us on email@example.com
Can I register a team for other to join? Yes. During the registration process you will be given options to register a new team or join a team that has already been registered.
Do I have to be part of a team to take part? No not at all.
Can I run for a Charity? Yes you can run for any charity of your choice, but it is not a condition of taking part. Our 2019 chosen charity is the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
What if the charity I am running for is not listed on the registration form? If your charity is not listed, you can add the name to the registration form and we will add to the list.
How much is a Santa in the City running place? Each Santa in the City running place costs £23 + registration booking fee.
How much is the booking fee? The registration booking fee is from £2.35 per running place.
How old do I need to be to enter? Runners must be over 8yrs old to enter. All runners between 8yrs - 14yrs are free, but do not receive a santa suit and must accompanied by an adult.
If I pay for a place and then find I can't do the run, what are my options?
You have three options in this event they are:
Option 1 - Transfer your place to another person by emailing the event team at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put 'TRANSFER' in the title of the email and Include your name, runner confirmation number and the person who will be taking your place.
Option 2 - Defer your place to 2019 by email by emailing the event team at email@example.com. Please put 'DEFER 19' in the title of the email and Include your name, runner confirmation number in the email.
Option 3 - If it is 30days before the event you are entitled to a refund. There is a £10.00 administration fee per place refunded to you, which will be deducted from the amount refunded to you. To get a refund please email the Santa in the City event team at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put 'REFUND' in the title of the email and Include your name, runner confirmation number in the email.
When do I get my Santa Suit? Santa Suits are all issued on the day of the event, 6th December 2018, at the Santa in the City check-in desk. This is open from 3pm on the day of the event and is located in the southeast corner of Paternoster Square, London.
Can I get my Santa Suit before the day of the event? We don't give the Santa Suits out until the day. If there is a reason why you want your we can look at sending to you, but there will be an additional carriage fee per suit posted, which will need to be paid in advance of posting.
Can I order extra Santa Suits? Yes, you can they are available at a cost of £11.00 and can be purchased when you register.
Are children’s Santa Suits available? Unfortunately, we do not supply children’s Santa Suits. Children are welcome to run for free, they must beat least 8years old to take part and welcome to wear their own festive outfit
What time can I check-in on the day? You can check-in and collect your santa suit from 3pm on the day of the event, 6th December 2018.
Can I leave a bag at the Santa Check-in desk? Yes there will be a bag storage area, but all bags and other items left are left completely at the owners risk. The organisers will not be help responsible for any damage, loss or theft that occurs to any bags
Who is this years Charity Partner? This year's Charity Partner is the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
Can I run for my own charity of choice? Absolutely and we encourage as many of you as possible to select a charity to run for. Do let us know who it is and we can feature the name of the charity in our social media communications.
